After betrayal, many of us find ourselves asking:
“Where were you, God?”
“Why did this happen?”
“Why didn’t you protect me?”
It’s natural to question when you’ve been deeply hurt and abandoned—not just by others, but seemingly even by the very source of your faith and strength.
The pain can make it feel as though God has turned away, leaving you to face the storm alone.
When you’re hurting, it’s easy to slip into what’s known as spiritual bypassing:
Telling yourself to “just trust God” or to “stay positive” without really allowing yourself to process the full weight of your emotions.
While faith is important, pushing away your pain too quickly can keep you stuck.
Spiritual bypassing doesn’t heal the wound—it covers it up.
Real healing happens when you give yourself permission to:
Your faith isn’t weaker because you’re hurting.
It’s human to wrestle with pain and doubt after betrayal.
Healing from the pain of feeling betrayed by God isn’t about suppressing the anger or confusion. It’s about making space for those raw emotions—trusting that God can handle them.
You don’t have to hide your pain from God.
You don’t have to force yourself to pretend you’re okay.
God is not afraid of your anger, your grief, or your honest prayers.
Acknowledging your pain truthfully can loosen its grip on your heart and open the door to rebuilding trust—not only with yourself and others, but also with God.
You’re allowed to grieve. You’re allowed to ask hard questions.
And you’re allowed to heal at your own pace.
